Pete - if you are to be a complete human being you must love, and if you love you will experience pain - that is the cruel balance that life places before us as we test ourselves in each relationship. For those of us raised to care about others, sometimes for our own selfish reasons, it is difficult to learn that others have their own legitimate goals and direction of travel. There is no right or wrong here, just differences that sometimes hurt. And so we cry, and bellow in pain, but then, as with all pain, it mellows to a quiet memory, cherished for its good parts for life while we find new love sometimes in the most surprising and unexpected of places. For those of us who are searchers, like you are, will always find new love. Take care but do not stop your pursuits - love Dad
